Kenny's Irish great-grandfather, John Foley, worked in the Peshtigo lumber mill and survived the Peshtigo fire of 1871. He homesteaded in Cedar River during the early 1880's, and went to work for the Crawford Lumber Company. Kenny's great-grandmother Bertha, raised on a Shawno County dairy farm married John and had 16 children. John Foley and his boys worked as lumberjacks in the Crawford Lumber Camps. In addition to cutting timber, John Foley's large family worked hard picking rocks, farming potatoes and operating a dairy/beef farm. Kenny's Grandmother Elsie Foley graduated fom Hermansville High School in 1930. attended County Normal in Menominee and became the school teacher in Cedar River's one room school house at age 19. Ms. Foley taught from Hermansville to Wallace by the end of her 48-year teaching career. Kenny lives on the Foley Farm with his wife Kyna, daughters Michaela and Katherine and mother Dorothy (Davis) Marks. He does not make his sole-living at farming, but still operates the farm on a part-time basis. Kenny is proud of his rural roots, his hard-working ancestors and he has a personal investment in Menominee County's future. Kenny wants to continue to make it a safer place to live for all of our citizens.
Kenny attended 12 years of Catholic education and graduated from Luke M. Powers Catholic High School, Flint, MI. His post high school education includes, two years undergraduate at Michigan State University, Bachelor of Business Administration from National University San Diego and a one year Certificate in Law Enforcement from Metropolitan University St. Paul. Kenny's educational background forms the foundation of his leadership abilities. He believes that Integrity is the most important leadership trait that a Sheriff must demonstrate.
Kenny and his family are members of the Carney Evangelical Free Church. Kenny is a member of the American Legion Post in Stephenson, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Menominee and the Stephenson Lions Club.
